the homestead strike

Following a series of strikes by the AA it was clear they held control of homestead steel work.
Henry clay frick began negotiations however by June no agreement was ,met an he locked the union out
Unrest broke out, the town was surrounded by picket lines
Ended with frick shot and the strikers were offered unconditional surrender

the pullman strike

A

1894 workers of teh Pullman police car company went on strike due to a 25% cut in wages and 1/3rd of workforce laid off.
This was not met with a reduction in the cost of loiving.
ARU and eugene debs took over, calling aru members to stop using Pullman cars.
This brought rail roads effectivekly to stand still
AG responded by issuing an order against interfering with mail
Soon federal troops were sent in to break teh strike
