  • Benguela current flows from Antartica and cools coastal areas
  • South-east cooling summer winds [aka “Cape Doctor”]
  • Becomes very warm to hot moving inland away from coasts

What Is the “Cape Doctor” /what does it do?

A
  • a strong southeasterly wind blows across Western Cape in spring/summer
  • suppresses fungal disease
  • moderates temperatures
  • can injure vines and disturb flowering
