Oxygenation & Ventilation Flashcards

1
Q

What are the formulas for a Desired Rate or VT?

Q

What increases Vt in PC?

A

Increase in PIP and I-time…I-time won’t increase Vt in all breaths

Q

How do you achieve desired Vt in PC?

A
  • Obtain targeted volume via Desired Vt Equation
  • Obtain Cstat…
    • If Pip 30 / Peep 5, exaled vt is 600, what is Cstat?
    • 600/30 = 20 ml/cmh20
      - Meaning…it takes 1 cmh20 to move 20 ml
    • If 700mL is desired Vt
      • Cross multiply
      • 1cmH20/20mL = (x)cmH20/700mL
      • 700/20 = 35cmH20
      • Add 5 of peep which then equals a set pip of 40
