Q

“Nothing beside remains.”

A

“Nothing beside remains” is the turning point of the poem as it suddenly switches from the King talking about himself and loving himself then switches to the sudden shift in having no power in the phrase “nothing” and this is called a volta. The volta is the turning point of the poem and this is used emphasise the point that now in the present day the king Does not have power. This quote also uses a caesura which is a pause in the middle of the poem and this is also used to further emphasise that “nothing” remained of the old might empire and that nature will always win.
