Q

What is conduction and when does it occur?

A

Conduction occurs when two things at different temperatures touch each other and energy directly transfers from the material in the hotter object to the material in the colder object at the point of contact.

Q

How does convection work?

A

Convection works by areas of a liquid or gas heating or cooling greater than their surroundings, causing differences in temperature. These temperature differences then cause the areas to move as the hotter, less dense areas rise, and the cooler, more dense areas sink.

Q

How does infrared radiation work?

A

The infrared radiation causes the bonds between molecules to move, releasing energy that is felt as heat.
