1
Q

What is the current rule in a series circuit?

A

The same current passes through each component

2
Q

What is the p.d rule in a series cicruit?

A

Potential difference is shared between components because each electron in the circuit passes through both bulbs

3
Q

How can you calculate the total p.d in a series circuit?

A

Total p.d is the sum of the potential difference of each cell

4
Q

What is the total resistance equal to in a series circuit?

A

Is equal to the sum of the resistance of each component

5
Q

Why does adding more resistors in series increase the total resistance?

A

More p.d is shared across the resistors - as a result the p.d across each of them is less then before - the current through the resistors is therefore less than before

As total p.d is unchanged the total resistance is therefore greater
