Q

What is atmospheric pressure?

A
  • pressure(Pa)=Density(kg/m(cubed))xGravitationalFieldStrength x depth(m)
  • Depends on Density and depth

Q

Whar is the spring constant?

A
  • force exerted by spring(N) = extension(m) x spring constant(N/m)
  • Depends on the material being stretched-a stiffer spring has a greater spring constant

Q

How do you find energy stored in a stretched spring?

A

Energy in a stretched spring(J) = 0.5 x spring constant(N/m) X extension(squared)(m(Squared))

Q

What is specific heat capacity?

A
  • The amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1 degree
  • Uses two types of stores: potential energy store and kinetic energy store
  • since we are talking about heat we only need to talk about the kinetic energy store because it is the movement energy of the particles
