A

Section 1 gives the constable powers to stop and search a Person or a vehicle in a public place.
Constable must have reasonable grounds to suspect that they will find stolen and or prohibited articles.

A

If a warrant is granted then a Constable has the authorisation to enter and search a property.
Warrant might be granted if there is reasonable grounds to believe that an indictable offence has taken place and that there is relevant evidence in the property which is likely to be substantial value to investigation.

What does section 18 allow an officer to do?

A

To enter and search the premises which is occupied and or controlled by a suspect which has committed an indictable offence.

Must have reasonable grounds to suspect that there is evidence relating to the offence. Or to another connected or similar indictable offence.

To seize anything for which the Constable may search for.

Search must be authorised in writing by a rank of inspector or above

What power does section 19 of PACE grant a Constable?

A

Section 19 of pace gives the Constable the right to seize items when there is reasonable grounds to believe that the items were obtained in the commission of an offence or which is evidence of a crime which is being investigated.
The seizure is necessary to prevent the evidence being concealed, lost, altered or destroyed.
