What are the main features of neonatal jaundice in 1st 24 hrs

A

If it occurs in first 24 hrs of life it is always pathological - need to test conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin levels

Causes
Haemolytic disorders- rhesus incompatibility, ABO incompatibility, G6PD deficiency, spcherocytosis, congenital infections and sepsis

Breast milk
Dehydration
Infection
Sepsis
Haemolysis
Bruising
