A

Protective, caused by thermal, chemical and mechanical processes

Neuropathic pain?

A

Lesion or disease of nerve or nervous system. Peripheral or central. Includes CNS hypersensitivity.
Not protective, no value. Caused by infection, metabolic issues, Neuro-degenerative conditions, trauma.
Look for radicular patterns, signs of myelopathy, hyperalgesia, allodynia, central sensitization

A

Nerve root. Depressed symptoms

A

Pressure on or vascular damage to spinal cord (inflammation/arthritic changes/bone spurs/stenosis)
Hyper-reflexia
Atrophy

A

Persistent state of high reactivity
E.g; CRPS, fibromyalgia, chronic pain
Don’t respond well to NSAIDS
TENS/Gabapentin/Cannabinoids better
