Adjective
Describes a noun or a pronoun and tells which one, what kind, or how many.
Adjectives go with linking verbs.
Adverb
Describes a verb, an adjective, or another verb and tells where, when, how, how often or how long, how much. Most are adjectives with an
-ly tail.
Adverbs go with action verbs.

Substitute seems, if it sounds ok it is a linking verb
