Q

contact to show feminisum

A

The male dancer is low to the ground and he is spun round by the female dancer as she grabs his wrist and pulls him up. The female dancers hold his arms out ajd he falls forward, he rolls and they pull him up again. They throw him into the other female dancer and she catches him in a squat position.

This communicates the idea of feminism and the rise of female power as the trio manipulates the males movement and he is often on a lower level. This contradicts little red rooster where the males control the singular female dancers movement and she is on a lower level, showing the shift in power dynamics.

Q

contact to show depression and the females being his demonds

A

the female dancer grabs the wrists of the male soloist aggressively and pushes his arm backwards as he jumps into a scissor kick, whilst trying to push him away. He then turns and runs into the other two female dancers, where he grabs their waits and falls dramatically into their arms.

This communicates the dance idea of depression, as the female dancers can be seen as manifestations of his own neurosis, accentuating his deepening spiral into depression.

Q

motif for “ i look inside myself and see my heart is black “

A

the male soloist is kneeling on the floor where he swipes his hands inwards and outwards, before going into a backbend with his left hand placed over his forehead, as if in despair. He then repeats this motif but this time the backbend is more exaggerated, with both arms over his head

This could perhaps resemble him looking into a reflection of himself, like a steamy mirror or a pool of water, and when he views himself he becomes disgusted and flinches at the sight. Perhaps he hates the way he looks, resembling self-loathing and hatred, which communicates his self-obsessed and deranged personality
