A

What should you include in the topic sentence ?

A

Make it relevant to the point you’re making, as it’s an introduction to the piece of writing - ‘the writer uses language to describe (question word) as…’

How should you present evidence in the evidence section ?

A

You need to pick evidence that has a lot to write about in it so that you don’t run out of ideas, and try and introduce the quotation so that it reads like one sentence.

What should you write about in the purpose section ?

A

Explore why the writer uses certain techniques in the quote and what it achieves - ‘the writer does this to emphasise how…’ or ‘the writer creates a sense of…’

A

Zoom in on individual words and techniques and show what they achieve, and use language of possibility to present multiple ideas - ‘in particular the word… could suggest…’

A

Zoom out to the overall effect and explicitly link back to the question, you can also present how this might make the reader feel to add more information.
