What are the 5 main functions of the skeleton?

What type of joint is the shoulder and hip?
Ball and socket joint
What is the role of ligaments?
Connect bone to bone and stabilise joints
What is the role of tendons?
Connect muscle to bone
What is the function of synovial fluid?
Lubricates the joint to allow smooth movement
Name the three types of muscle in the body.
Skeletal, Cardiac, Smooth
What is the pathway of air into the lungs?
Nose/Mouth → Trachea → Bronchi → Bronchioles → Alveoli
What happens during inspiration (inhalation)?
Diaphragm contracts and flattens, intercostal muscles contract, ribcage moves up and out
What is tidal volume?
The amount of air inhaled or exhaled in one breath during normal breathing
What is the function of red blood cells?
Transport oxygen around the body

A simple skill that doesn’t require much concentration (e.g. running)
