What does nitrogen fixing bacteria do?
In the soil and can absorb nitrogen and converts into nitrates from the soil, this allows the crops to grow quicker
Describe the nitrogen cycle
- Nitrogen in the air is absorbed by nitrogen fixing bacteria
- This is turned into nitrate and amino acids are released into the plants which is then eaten by the animals
- When these organisms die the DECOMPOSING BACTERIA break them down into ammonia and the NITRIFYING BACTERIA break it down back into nitrates and the cycle repeats again
Why can crop rotation increase crop yield? ( explain )
Farmers firstly grow crops in their fields that contain NITROGEN FIXING BACTERIA in their roots so the plants can absorb the nitrates and increase the concentration
The following year the farmer grows their normal crop and they absorb the nitrogen from the NITROGEN FIXING PLANTS increasing crop yield
Denitrifying bacteria in the soil converts…
Nitrates back into nitrogen gas
Nitrifying bacteria converts..
Ammonia back into nitrates
The menstrual cycle takes place every…
28 days
Ovulation is around day..

What does FSH do?
Causes the egg in the ovary to mature
What does LH do?
Causes the egg to be released
What do both oestrogen and progesterone do?
Maintain the lining of the uterus in case the egg is fertilised and implants
FSH is released by the…
Pituitary gland
FSH firstly travels to..
The ovaries and causes the egg to mature
FSH also triggers the ovaries to make..
Oestrogen
Oestrogen stops the pituitary gland from releasing…
More FSH
The pituitary gland releases LH…
Which then causes the egg to be released
If not pregnant progesterone falls and the woman…
Has her period
