1
Q
What is Homeostasis?
A
Homeostasis is the regulation of internal conditions to
keep optimum conditions for function in response to internal and external changes.
This is needed for enzyme action
and all cell functions.
2
Q
What does homeostasis control in the body?
A
Blood glucose concentration
Body temperature
Water levels
3
Q
Receptors
A
cells that detect stimuli (changes in the environment)
4
Q
Coordination centres
A
Receive and process information from receptors
eg brain and spinal cord
5
Q
Effectors
A
bring about responses to bring the conditions in the body back to optimum
levels, e.g. muscles or glands
