PAPER 2 Flashcards
(6 cards)
Identify the skeletal formula of the Ketone, Aldehyde and Acid
Ketone - =O in the middle
Aldehyde - =O at the end
Acid - =O -OH
Give reagents to identify the Ketone, Aldehyde and Acid
Carboxylic acid - Add water then gas and bubbling is produced through limewater if test is positive
Calculate the final temperature (calorimetry)
LEARN CALORIMETRY DUMB ASS
What would the effect on equilibrium yield, rate of reaction and cost be as a result of a change in temperature?
Exothermic increase
Equilibrium shifts to the left to oppose the change in temperature so the yield of products decreases.
Exothermic decrease
Equilibrium shifts to the right to oppose the change in temperature so the yield of products increases.
Endothermic increase
Equilibrium shifts to the right to oppose the change in temperature so the yield of products increases.
Exothermic decrease
Equilibrium shifts to the left to oppose the change in temperature so the yield of products decreases.
What is the effect of pressure on equilibrium yield, rate of reaction and costs
The equilibrium will shift to the side with the least moles
Enthalpy change of combustion as a calculation
