The quote “I can see her strong foot, stained with peat” is used to show that Julia was a women of nature, she was a hard worker who wasn’t afraid of the outdoors. The word “strong” shows the speakers admiration for his Aunt, he admired the strength of his Aunt as she was able to complete such gruelling tasks outdoors.

The quote “her right hand drew yarn marvellously out of the air” is also used to convey the speakers admiration for his Aunt as he admired the magic of this task. The word “marvellously” suggests that he was in awe watching his Aunt complete tasks.
