A

Typical dose is from 0.3-1.0 mg/kg.

Classic dose 1.0 mg/kg. Newer 0.5-0.6 mg/kg.

A

Typical onset is 45-60 seconds at 1.0 mg/kg

Duration is about 8-15 minutes for 90% recovery

How to treat hyperKalemia d/t Succinylcholine admin?

A
  1. Hyperventilation
  2. 1-2mg Calcium Chloride IV
  3. 50cc D50W IV + 10 units IV insulin (Adults) or 1.0ml/kg D50W + 0.15 U/kg insulin
    (Pediatrics).
  4. Sodium Bicarbonate 1 mEq/kg

A

Excessively large doses, repeat doses of SUX, or SUX infusions can result in what is called a phase II block which acts more like a non-depolarizing blockade
of the NMJ.
