Lay on the table
To temporarily delay action on an item of business
Previous question
To terminate discussion on the motion or motions before the chapter and to secure an immediate vote
Limit or extend limits of debate
To permit the chapter to exercise special control over the debate on a pending question or on a series of pending questions
Postpone to certain time(definitely)
This motion permits action on a pending question to be postponed to a specific date, meeting or time or until after a particular event
Referred to a committee
To temporarily place the action in question in a committee
Amend
To modify the motion that is under consideration
Postpone indefinitely
To kill the motion on the floor and avoid a direct on the question
Point of order
To force the rules by calling attention to a violation of the rules or a mistake in the procedure
Appeal from the decision of the chair
To obtain a decision from the chapter to a question on which the presiding officer has made a decision
Suspend Standing Rules
To permit the chapter to do something that cannot be done without violating and standing rules
Object to the consideration of a question
To enable an assembly to avoid considering an original main motion when it is believed it would be strongly and undesirable for the question to come before the meeting
Division of the assembly
To determine the accuracy of a vote especially when taken by voice or show of hands
Nominations and elections
To present to the chapter the name of the candidate for a certain office or position
