A

Dedicated to safeguarding food, animals and plants, ensuring the health and well-being of Canadians, the environment, and the economy. The CFIA has responsibility for the administration of all legislation relating to food, animals and plants.

Describe Health Canada (HC)

A

Develops regulations for the import, export, production, distribution, possession and sale of thousands of products, including, among others: biologics, consumer goods, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.

A

A

Responsible for authorizing the entry of goods that are controlled or restricted. It also monitors trade in certain goods.

Goods that are restricted by quotas and/or tariffs are managed by a system of import and export permits. Quotas are often applied to food items. A quota is a limitation on the quantity of goods that may be imported or exported.

A

The IID is an electronic means of transmitting release data to the CBSA and allows for additional data elements that are required by an OGD, and transmission of images of licenses, certificates, permits and other documents that may be required for entry.
