part 4 Flashcards
What is the somatic nervous system?
composed of somatic parts of the CNS and PNS and provides sensory and motor innervation to all party of the body except the body cavities, smooth muscle and glands.. It transmits sensation of touch, pain, temperature, and position from sensory receptors
What is the Autonomic nervous system?
also know as the visceral nervous system and consists of motor fibers that stimulate smooth (involuntary) muscle, modified cardiac muscle and glandular cells
The efferent nerve fibers and ganglia of the ANS are organized into what two systems?
- Sympathetic
2. Parasymphathetic
Where is the nerve cell body of the firs presynaptic neuron located?
Gray matter of the CNS
Where are the cell bodies located for the post synaptic neuron?
outside the CNS in autonomic ganglia
What are the anatomical differences between the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the ANS?
- Location of the presynaptic cell bodies
2. Which nerves conduct the presynaptic fibers from the CNS
