- topical calamine
- pat instead of scratch
- keep nails clean and apply mittens if child is scratching
- diphenhydramine or antihistamine to relieve itching

- acyclovir
- varicella-zoster immune globulin (for high risk children to prevent)
- antihistamine, calamine, zinc oxide
What are some complications of varicella?
- secondary bacterial infections
