Q

How does concentration affect the rate of reaction?

A
  1. A higher concentration means there are more reactant particles per unit volume.
  2. Particles have to travel less far to find a reactant particle, so there are more frequent collisions.
  3. This also means more frequent successful collisions.
  4. This causes an overall increase in the number of reactions, and the time taken for the reactions to occur, resulting in a higher rate of reaction.

Answer must include these points.

Q

How does temperature affect the rate of reaction?

A
  1. The higher the temperature, the more energy or kinetic energy each particle has.
  2. More kinetic energy means the particles move faster.
  3. This means that particles will collide more frequently, so there will be more collisions in less time.
  4. This increases the rate of reaction.
  5. A higher temperature and therefore more energy means that there are more particles with the activation energy.
  6. This means there are more succesful collisions per unit volume and a higher rate of reaction.

Answer must include these points.
