Q
How does concentration affect the rate of reaction?
A
- A higher concentration means there are more reactant particles per unit volume.
- Particles have to travel less far to find a reactant particle, so there are more frequent collisions.
- This also means more frequent successful collisions.
- This causes an overall increase in the number of reactions, and the time taken for the reactions to occur, resulting in a higher rate of reaction.
Answer must include these points.

Q
How does temperature affect the rate of reaction?
A
- The higher the temperature, the more energy or kinetic energy each particle has.
- More kinetic energy means the particles move faster.
- This means that particles will collide more frequently, so there will be more collisions in less time.
- This increases the rate of reaction.
- A higher temperature and therefore more energy means that there are more particles with the activation energy.
- This means there are more succesful collisions per unit volume and a higher rate of reaction.
Answer must include these points.
