🔝 1. Burners (Gas or Electric Hob)
Role: These are the heating elements on top of the cooker. Used for boiling, frying, sautéing, and simmering.
Most cookers have 4 burners: small (for simmering), medium, and large (for boiling or frying).
🔥 2. Burner Controls (Knobs or Touch Controls)
Role: Adjust the flame (gas) or heat level (electric) of each burner.
Some also have ignition buttons to spark the gas flame.
🧱 3. Grates or Hotplates
Role: Sit over the burners, supporting your pots and pans while cooking.
Gas cookers have metal grates; electric ones may have solid plates or glass-ceramic surfaces.
🔲 4. Oven Compartment
Role: Enclosed chamber used for baking, roasting, and slow cooking.
Most ovens allow you to control temperature and choose heating modes (top, bottom, fan, or grill).
🌡️ 5. Oven Thermostat and Controls
Role: Lets you set and monitor the internal oven temperature.
Some cookers have a built-in thermometer or digital temperature display.
🔥 6. Grill Section (Top Heating Element)
Role: High-heat area (usually inside the oven) used to grill or brown the top of food (e.g. toast, cheese toppings).
🪟 7. Oven Door (with Glass Window)
Role: Keeps the heat in while allowing you to check food visually through the glass.
🧼 8. Drip Tray or Oven Tray
Role: Catches food or grease that falls during baking or roasting, making cleanup easier.
