what is a noun?
A noun is a person, place , or thing. e.g. elle, London, phone
what is a verb?
A verb is a doing word. e.g. singing, talking, dancing.
what is an adjective?
A describing word. e.g. excited, sleepy, overwhelming
what is an adverb?
a word that describes a verb e.g. slowly, quickly, gracefully
what is a conjunction/connective?
a word that connects two parts of a sentence e.g. and however, but, so.
what is a preposition
a word that shows the relation of two things e.g. in on under behind.
what is an article?
the words a an the.
what is a pronoun
a word that replaces a noun in a sentence. e.g. he she we they I.
what are the three types of nouns?
proper nouns (Elle, London) common nouns (phone, table), and collective nouns (a bunch of flowers, a SWARM of bees, a pack of dogs).
what are two kinds of common noun?
abstract nouns and concrete nouns
what are abstract nouns?
nouns that you can’t touch e.g. peace.
what are concrete nouns?
nouns that you can touch e.g. phone, table.
