PATHOLOGY Flashcards
(20 cards)
What is plant pathology?
- Microorganisms and environment factors that cause disease in plant.
- Mechanisms by which these organisms induce disease.
- Methods of preventing reducing damage caused.
Biodic disease
infectious disease caused by organisms
I.E
fungi,prokariots,parasitic, virusus, nematodes
Abiotic disease
non infectious disease.
I.E
temp flunctuations, soil moisture, PH,air pollution…..
Fungus
Eukarotic spore bearing
reproduce sexually of asexual
mycelium
filamentous vegetative body of a fungus
hyphae
individual branches of mycelium
Where does mycelium grow?
tip of hyphae
How does fungi reproduce?
spores
Spores
reproductive bodies of 1 or few cells
may be formed bot sexually and asexually
Asexual reproduction
inperfect stage or anamorphic
sexual reproduction
perfect stage or telemorph
Biotroph
obtains nutrients from living organisms
nectotroph
kills plants for nutrients IE pythium
Facultatve saprophy
FACULTY-SUMMERS OFF
typically biotroph but can act as neotrophic
obligate biotroph
needs to have living host to survive
IE Powdery mildew, rust
parasite
organisms that feed inside other organisms
facultative parasite
on dead organic matter under sertain conditions it can also become parasitic
DISEASE TRIANGLE
conducive environment
pathogen
susceptible host
Epidimiology
the triangle + TIME
Disease cycle
chains of event that have to happenin same order but does not matter were its picked up
