Means any disease of the kidneys
Nephropathy
- the inability of one or both kidneys to perform their functions
- the body cannot replace damaged nephrons and when too many are destroyed, the result is kidney failure
Renal failure
- toxic condition resulting from renal failure
- urea and other waste products are retained in the blood
Uremia
- Has a sudden onset and can be fatal if not reversed promptly
- can be caused by dehydration or a sudden drop in blood volume
Acute renal failure
Group of conditions in which excessive amounts of protein are lost through the urine
Nephrotic Syndrome
Excessive fluid accumulation in body tissues that can be symptomatic of nephrotic syndrome and other kidney diseases
Edema
*inflammation of the kidney or kidneys
* caused by toxins, infection or disease
Nephritis
Abnormal mineral deposit that has formed within the body and is named for the location
Stones (calculus)
Presence of stones in the kidney
Nephrolithiasis
Kidney stone
Nephrolith
Inflammation of the bladder
Cystitis
Difficult or painful urination frequently associated with UTI’s
Dysuria
Frequent and excessive urination during the night
Nocturia
Inability to control the excretion of urine or feces or both
