hepatic lobule features

A
  • rough hexagon shape
  • ~ 1-2 mm
  • portal triad/area in each corner
  • hepatocytes run in a radial fashion from portal triad to the central area
  • central vein is in the center of the lobule
  • ~60% of blood comes from the portal vein and ~40% from the hepatic artery
  • blood from portal vein and hepatic artery mix in the sinusoids then drains in the central vein
  • blood enters from portal triad and flows to the central vein
  • outflow from liver occurs at the central vein
  • bile flows from central vein to the bile duct (opposite from blood)
  • bile duct lined by cuboidal epithelium
