Q
hepatic lobule features
A
- rough hexagon shape
- ~ 1-2 mm
- portal triad/area in each corner
- hepatocytes run in a radial fashion from portal triad to the central area
- central vein is in the center of the lobule
- ~60% of blood comes from the portal vein and ~40% from the hepatic artery
- blood from portal vein and hepatic artery mix in the sinusoids then drains in the central vein
- blood enters from portal triad and flows to the central vein
- outflow from liver occurs at the central vein
- bile flows from central vein to the bile duct (opposite from blood)
- bile duct lined by cuboidal epithelium
