Nutritional requirements during pregnancy
Increase kCal by 300 per day to provide for the growth of the fetus
- stay away from foods high in sodium
- 30mg/day of iron
- 400mcg of folic acid per day
- 1200mg of calcium per day
Weight gain during pregnancy
Women of normal weight= 25-35 lbs
Women underweight= 28-40 lbs
Obese women= 11-20 lbs
Overweight women= 11-25 lbs
Things to report to healthcare provider during prenatal visit?
• severe vomiting
•s/s of infection: -Fever -Chills •Burning on urination •Diarrhea •Abdominal cramping •Vaginal bleeding
