What is peace?
A state of harmony and absence of conflict or war.
What is justice?
Bringing about fairness and making things right, often linked to law and human rights.
What is forgiveness?
Choosing to let go of resentment or revenge toward someone who has wronged you.
What is reconciliation?
Restoring friendly relations after a conflict or disagreement.
What is conflict?
A serious disagreement or argument, often leading to violence or war.
What is pacifism?
The belief that war and violence are always wrong.
What is a just war?
A war fought for the right reasons and in a morally acceptable way, according to set principles.
What are the conditions of a Just War?
Just cause, right intention, declared by a proper authority, last resort, chance of success, proportional force.
What is Holy War?
A war fought for religious reasons, believed to be sanctioned by God.
What is terrorism?
The unlawful use of violence to achieve political or religious goals.
What does Jesus teach about peace?
“Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9).
What does the Bible say about loving enemies?
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).
Do all Christians support pacifism?
No. Some are pacifists (e.g. Quakers), but others believe war can be justified in certain cases.
What is the Christian view on forgiveness?
Forgiveness is essential – “Forgive and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37)

Quakers – they oppose all forms of violence and promote peacebuilding.

Pax Christi is an international Catholic peace movement that promotes peace, nonviolence, and reconciliation.

What is torture?
Torture is the act of inflicting severe pain or suffering, physically or mentally, to punish or extract information.
What is the Christian view on torture?
Most Christians oppose torture because it violates human dignity and the sanctity of life, which are core beliefs.
What is nuclear war?
A war involving nuclear weapons that cause massive destruction and long-term harm to the environment and human life.
Why do some Christians oppose nuclear weapons?
- They cause indiscriminate killing
- Go against the teachings of Jesus on peace and love
- Threaten God’s creation
What are Just War Theory rules relevant to nuclear war?
- Must be proportional
- Must avoid civilian deaths
- Nuclear war often fails both rules
