Q

What boney landmarks would you find on the sacrum?
* see if you can describe where they are located and/or their relevance

A

1.) Base
-most superior surface

2.) apex
-most inferior surface

3.) Anterior sacral foramina
-anterior rami of sacral nerves emerge here

4.) posterior sacral foramina
-posterior rami of sacral nerves emerge here

5.) auricular surface
-articulates with the auricular surface of the ilium

6.) sacral promontory
-the post anterior portion of the base

7.) sacral hiatus
-coccygeal nerves emerge here

Q

What boney landmarks would you find on the Ishium?
*see if you can describe where they are located and or/ their relevance

A

1.) Ischial spine
-the inferior boundary of greater sciatic notch
-sacrospinous ligament inserts here
-superior gemellus inserts here

2.) Lesser sciatic notch
-small notch inferior to the ischial spine
-several nerves and vessels pass

3.) Body
-posterior to the acetabulum
Inferior to the ischial spine

4.) Ischial tuberosity
-“sit bone”
-curves bony ridge extending from the body of the ischium anterior Inferiorly.
-helps to define posterior border of Obturator foramen
-partial origin of hamstrings

5.) Ischial ramus
-Between the ischial tuberosity and inferior pubic ramus
-partial origin of adductor Magnus

6.) Obturator foramen
-Obturator cover them
-body, ramus and tuberosity of ischium border posterior 1/2

7.) acetabulum
-where the femoral head articulates
-ischium forms the posterior 1/3

Q

What boney landmarks would you find on the pubis?
* see if you can describe where they are located and/or their relevance

A

1.) Iliopubic eminence
-bony ridge at fusion site of ilium of pubis

2.) Superior pubic ramus
-between eminence and pubic tubercle
-forms the superior border of Obturator foramen

3.) inferior pubic ramus
-between ischiopubic junction and pubic tubercle

4.) Pectineal line
-on the internal surface of the superior pubic ramus
-origin of Pectineus

5.) pubic crest
-on the external surface of the superior pubic ramus
-upper edge of the body

6.) pubic tubercle
-lateral aspect of the pubic crest
-partial attachment of abdominals

7.) Body of pubis
-between the superior and inferior pubic ramifications

8.) Obturator groove
-most inferior and lateral aspect of the pubis
-anterior branch of Obturator nerve passes

9.) symphyseal surface
-articulating surface of pubic symphysis
-located on the medial side of the body of the pubis and inferior to the pubic tubercle

10.) Obturator foramen
-superior and inferior pubic rami border anterior 1/2

11.) acetabulum
-pubis forms anterior 1/3

Q

What boney landmarks would you find on the Ilium?
*see if you can describe where they are located and/or their relevance

A

1.) Iliac crest
-most superior edge of the ilium

2.) Ala
-posterior/laterally forms the gluteal surface
-anterior/medially forms the iliac fossa ( origin of iliacus)

3.) ASIS
- most anterior lateral point of iliac crest
-origin of sartorious

4.) AIIS
-inferior to ASIS
-origin of Rectus femoris

5.) PSIS
-most posterior lateral point of iliac crest
-partial origin of glute max

6.) PIIS
-inferior to PSIS
-partial origin of glute max

7.) Iliac tuberculum
-on the gluteal surface of the iliac crest
-partial origin of the IT band

8.) Iliac tuberosity
-between iliac fossa and PSIS
-part of the Articularis surface for the fibrous part of the SI joint

9.) auricular surface
-inferior to iliac tuberosity
-articulating surface for sacrum

10.) posterior gluteal line
-located on gluteal surface of iliac wing
-anterior to PSIS and PIIS

11.) anterior gluteal line
-located on gluteal surface of iliac wing
-anterior to posterior line
-gluteal med originates BETWEEN the anterior and POSTERIOR

12.) inferior gluteal line
-located on gluteal surface of iliac wing
-inferior to anterior line
Glute min originates BETWEEN anterior and INFERIOR

13.) arcuate line
-bony ridge curving anteriorly from sacroiliac region to pubis
-helps form the pubic inlet

14.) greater sciatic notch
-large notch inferior to the PSIS
-piriformis and sciatic nerve emerges here

15.) Body of ilium
- superior to the acetabulum
-inferior to inferior gluteal line

16.) acetabulum
-where the femur articulates
-ilium forms superior 1/3
