What is a job description and what’s in it

A

A description of what a job involves and the type of person they want for it, it gives the jobs formal title, the purpose of the job and its main duties. Says if it’s part or full time

Ads and disadvantages of full time jobs

A

They’re expensive to pay and usually 9-5 jobs. They’re good as they’re available for the whole day

Advantages and disadvantages of part time

A

Less expensive and good if there is t enough work to fill a full time job. They’re usually more motivated as shorter days and they are better rested

What is the person specification for a job

A

A list of all the qualifications, experience and attitudes they would expect an ideal candidate to posses. Some of it is essential, some is desireable

Advantages and disadvantages of internal recruitment

A

It’s cheap and quick to do
Worker is usually familier with the site and workplace

No new blood so no new ideas
There will usually be a vacancy for the job the promoted person had before

A

More expensive as advertising
Selection process can be slow and time consuming
Newly recruited person will need time to adjust to the workplace

A

Businesses that specialised in finding people who match a companies job description

What is the role of an hr department

A

The human resource department is used to look after employees and find people that fit job descriptions

What is time rate pay

A

Pay based on hours worked by a worker. Usually used to pay those whose output is difficult to measure. They are encourage to work long hours but they also tend to work slowly

A

Used to pay those whose output can be easily measured such as a sewer making sleeves. They can be paid per 100 sleeves they make. This encourages them to work fast but also may reduce quality

A

Payment given to manual workers based on the amount of work they do

A

Any reward that isn’t part of. Workers income such as company cars or free health insurance

A

Worker can’t do more than 48 hours per week

A

Recruiters mustn’t discriminate applicants based on gender, race or disability issues
Mustn’t discriminate because of age, religions or sexual orientation
Men and women should have equal opportunities and pay

Health and safety legislation at work places

A

All staff must have relèvent health and safety training
There must be safety equipment provided if necessary
Must be toilets, washing facilities and fire escapes
If these laws are broken, business may be fined or even closed down

Laws on getting rid of employees

A

You can’t fire someone unless they are incapable of doing there job or have show gross misconduct
They can only make staff redundant if there job no longer exists or is needed
Employees can appeal to an employment tribunal if they feel they were kicked out unfairly and may receive compensation or get there job back
