Q

Dramatic method

A

This creates irony for the audience is perdita is unaware herself that she is a bastard and rejects the validity of these people however, polixenes changes her viewpoint of these types of flowers which can be seen as an analogy for herself in which she later accepts her lower status even though dating a prince

Q

Theme

A

This can align with the theme appearance and reality as something that can appear to be of lower-status can actually be someone of royalty. It can relate to the theme of love as even though society around her rejects her low status she is comfortable with her future husband to embrace this status despite seeing bastards as something that is unnatural

Q

Context

A

Within the renaissance period of 1500-1660 being born Out of (supposed) wedlock led to many restrictions on children such as discrimination, prejudice and could result in being put to death.

Perdita was seen to come from a lower class family (irony as she was princess) resulting in rejection for her inter-class relationship that would’ve brought shame and rejection onto the family.
