Performance Flashcards
What is accelerate-go distance (multi)
Horizontal distance required to continue the takeoff and climb to 50ft after engine failure
What is accelerate - stop distance (multi)
Is the length required to accelerate the airplane to Vr and bring it to complete stop after engine failure
All engines service ceiling/ absolute ceiling
All engine CC highest altitude at wich plane can maintain at least 100fpm clim
All engine AC when climb is no longer possible
Single engine service ceiling (multi)
Is reached when a multi engine airplane can no longer maintain 50fpm climb with one engine inop
Key element in best climb performance in one engine inop (multi)
Minimizing SIDESLIP
What is the critical engine
Is the engine whose failure has the most adverse effect directional control
P- factor in conventional multi
The right engine descending blade is at a farther distance from the center of gravity than the left engine’s descending blade thus it has more arm. Resulting in more adverse yaw if the left engine were to fail. Thus left engine the critical engine
Far 23.67 single engine climb performance requirements
Max 6000lbs or less and Vso of 61kts or less
The SE rate of climb at 5000MSL must be determined with:
- Critical engine inop. and its prop feathered
- Remaining eng. not more than max power
- Landg gear retracted
- Flaps up
- Climb speed not less than 1.2Vs1
Rate of climb in this case could be negative
Far 23.67 single engine climb performance requirements
Max 6000lbs or less and/ or Vso MORE than 61kts
Certified before: feb 4 1991 the SE rate of climb at 5000MSL must be equal to at least .027Vso2⃣
Certified after: maintain steady climb gradient of a least 1.5 percent at 5000 in the clean cofiguration with critical engine feathered
