Perineum Flashcards
(32 cards)
General Boarders of Perineum
Mons pubis anteriorly
Medial surfaces of proximal thigh laterally
gluteal fold and intergluteal cleft posterialy
Osseofiberous boarders
pubic symphysis anteriorly ischiopubic rami anterolaterally ischial tuberosities laterally sacrotuberous ligament posterolaterallly inferior sacrum and coccyx posteriorly
Anal triangle
posterior to transverse line
containes anus bounded by two ishioanal fossae
Perineal body
central part of perineum
irregular shaped fibromuscular tissue located at midpoint of transverse line
*posterior to vestibule of vagina or bulb of penis
*anterior to anus and anal canal
-attatches to posterior boarder of perineal membrane
-attatchment point for many muscles
What muscles attach to perineal body
plus 2 other landmarks
superficial transverse perineal M
Deep transverse perineal M
(posterior)
External anal sphincter
bulbospongiosus
Root of Penis
located in superficial perineal pouch, attatched to perenial membrane
consists of crura and bulb of penis
crura of penis
bilateral slender masses of erectile tissue
attatched to internal part of each ischial ramus
continuous with corpus cavernosa in body of penis
surrounded by ischiocavernosus M
How does blood flow from crus into corpus cavernosum?
contraction of ischiocavernous M forces blood from crus into corpus cavernosum of penis
What innervates ichiocavernosus M
deep perenial nerve from pudendal N
Body of penis
suspended from pubis by syspensory ligament of penis
contains no muscles
comprised of 3 cyndrical bodies of erectile tissue
corpra cavernosa
continuous with crura of penis and located dorsally in penis
fused in midline
surrounded by tunica albuginea
does not extend into glans penis
corpus spongiosum
continuous with bulb of penis
surrounds spongy urethra which opens at external urethral orfice
glans of penis
Superficial penile fascia
deep penile fascia
suspensory ligament of penis
superficial penile fascia
thin layer of adipose free facual tissue
provides mobility of skin on penis
contains neurovasulatureof bolbus pubis
deep penile fascia
surrounds corpa cavernosa and corpus spongiosum
deep dorsal neurovasculature are enclosed by this fascia
-these penetrate tunica albuginea and supply erectile tissue
Suspensory ligaments of penis
extends from anterior surface of pubic symphysis to root of penis
fuses with deep penile fascia
anchors erectile bodies of penis to pubic symphysis
Arterial supply to penis
Internal Pudendal artery branches
internal pudendal Artery–> supplies most penile tissue via the following branches:
Dorsal Artery of Penis
Deep Artery of Penis
Artery of Bulb
Arterial supply to penis
External Pudendal Artery
External pudendal artery supplies proximal penile skin
- Deep and superficial arteries that branch from Femoral Artery!
-
Venous drainage of penis
Deep dorsal Vein of penis
Superficial Dorsal vein of penis
Lymphatic Drainage of Penis
Most efferents to superficial inguinal lymph nodes
Innervation of penis
Dorsal Nerve of penis- terminal branch of pudendal nerve sensory innervation of skin and glans penis
Cavernous nerve- parasympathetic fibers branching from prostatic plexus of nerves
innervate deep Artery of penis and responsible for erection
Mons Pubis
rounded fattty prominence covered with pubic hair
labia majora
prominant folds of skin on either side of pudendal cleft
labia minora
folds of fat free hairless skin enclosed in pudendal cleft forms clitoris
