10
Q

why does aluminium appear to be unreactive with oxygen

A

there’s a fine layer of aluminium oxide on the surface of the metal preventing collision between aluminium atoms and oxygen molecules. This layer can be removed and then the aluminium will react slowly to form white flakes of aluminium oxide
