Q

When commencing a cooldown shortly after a reactor trip, what actions can be taken to control heatup of the Surge Line?

A

Cooldown results in out surge. Charging flow must be raised to minimize out surge. Also, cooldown rate can be lowered.

Q

SG 21 experienced a 400 GPM SGTR. The crew manually tripped the Reactor, completed E-0 and transitioned to E-3. During E-3, it was found that all SG Stop Valves failed to close. So the crew transitioned to ECA-3.1. When the crew went to start the cooldown, the RO reports that the steam dumps are not operating and the SG PORVs must be used for cooldown. What should the SM primary focus be on at this moment?

A: Do not allow the SG PORV operation since it will alert the neighbors to a problem at the plant
B: Ensure the RO maintains even steaming across all 4 Steam Generators
C: Consult the E-Plan due to potential upgrade criteria being met
D: Tracking maintenance activities to get the SG Stop Valves closed.
