Q
permeability of cell membrane
A
- cell membrane surface is selectively permeable to water and some solutes
- non-polar substances can move through easier than polar substances
- lipid soluble can dissolve in phospholipids and diffuse across
- phospholipid layer hydrophobic, so lipid-soluble passes easier than water-soluble substances
- water soluble can’t diffuse through the phospholipids moves through intrinsic protein
