Enticement
Example: ‘Down, down prices are down’
Effects: something used to attract or to tempt someone; a lure.
Colour
Example: The colour red is the first colour children see and it is widely liked more than other colours
Effects: Essential to use colour to project an image and creat emotion within it.
Imagery
Example: Came and went like time spent through an hourglass
Effects: attempt to create a favourable mental picture of a product
Hyperbole
Example: “I’ve told you a million times”
Effects: an extreme exaggeration used to make a point
Incentives
Example: buy one get one free
Effects: motivates or encourages someone to do something
Alliteration
Example: Alice’s aunt ate apples and acorns around August
Effect: Repetition of consonant sound at the beginning of a word
Alarmist Language
Example: “Be careful not to cut your stoma”
Effect: Appeal to fear
Attacks
Example: “We have an enemy before us called Tony Abbott, and the Liberal Coalition government nationally, that is taking away reforms that we fought so hard for”
Effect: attacks on an opponent or idea to place the reader in a position of agreement with the writer/speaker
Colloquial Language
Example: “she’s a top Sheila that Jessica Rowe”
Effect: informal language that is not rude but is not to be used in a formal situation. Bring a more inclusive approach as the reader feels as if they are at home with the use of familiar language.
Rhyme
Example: “Call, call, Carpet call, the experts in the trade”
Effect: create remembrance and rhyme that is stuck in someone’s head.
Jingle
Example: Catchy tune. Eg - Down, down prices are down
Effect: A short tune that contains one or more catchy hooks
Brand Characters
Example: Ronald McDonald
Effect: Certain characters of a business which brings remembrance
Shock Tactics
Example: the effects of cigarettes on their packages
Effect: to scare/shock a person to change their ideologies or the way they do something.
Popular Culture
Example: what is hip and trending
Effect: Ad that shapes the way we think and live our lives.
Symbolism
Example: heart represents love
Effect: give literary work more richness and colour and can make the meaning of work deeper.
Sound/music
Example: Catchy song that everyone knows and will remember from an ad
Effect: makes the ad more memorable
Motifs
Example: the featuring of children in a toys add brings nostalgia to adults
Effect: A recurring subject or theme

Effect: Refers to history and provides fact
Appeals: fear, hip pocket, patriotism ect

Inclusive language
Example: We know that Tony Abbott is..
Effect: make the reader feel as if they are part of the text this effects the unity.
Metaphor
Example: the snow is a white blanket
Effect: to show one concept as another
Rhetorical Question
Example: Can birds fly?
Effect: A question that needs no answer which is used to persuade.
