Perturbation Theory Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
Define singular equation
A
Order of equation changes when epsilon = 0
2
Q
What do you use perturbation methods for?
A
To find x when like its hard to
Assume x is power series in epsilon
Then you simplify using Taylor series
3
Q
Alternate way of writing Taylor series
A
f(x+Δx) = f(x) + f’(x)Δx + … + f^n(x)Δx^n/n!
Not quite sure about the last term but yes for the first two - hopefully you only need those
4
Q
Normal way of writing Taylor series
A
f(x) = f(a) + f’(a)(x-a) + … + f^n(a)(x-a)^n/n!
