Phonological Process Intervention Methods Flashcards
Describe the Van Riper (traditional) approach
1-2 sounds at a time, achieve mastery before moving on, production training and ear training
Describe the multiple phoneme approach
Targeting several phonemes at once; establishment, transfer, maintenance
Describe the cycles approach
designed for highly unintelligible children, targeting processes in the same order.
Describe the complexity approach
targeting more complex sounds to improve unrelated sounds; appropriate for severe phonological disorders
phonological contrast approach
minimal pairs, maximal oppositions, multiple oppositions (select global phoneme collapse as intervention target)
desribe the metaphon approach
uses minimal pairs- develops phonological awareness and communicative awareness
