- His death was mourned extremely nationwide, and this was reflected in the music
People felt like there was no more people to pick up the torch - The phrase “So-Long, Bobby” references the sign carried by mourners along the Robert F. Kennedy’s funeral train in 1968. Photographer Paul Fusco captured the image.
Kent State Massacre:

-The Kent State shootings, also known as the Kent State massacre, occurred on May 4, 1970, at Kent State University in Ohio, during an anti-war protest against the Vietnam War and U.S. military actions in Cambodia. Members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of students, resulting in the deaths of four students and injuries to nine others. The event sparked widespread outrage and a wave of student strikes across the country, highlighting the deep divisions surrounding the war and the tensions between students and authorities.

Vietnam Memorial:
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, also known as The Wall, is a national memorial in Washington, D.C., dedicated to honoring the service members who died or remain missing during the Vietnam War. The memorial’s prominent feature is a wall inscribed with the names of over 58,000 service members, listed in chronological order of their deaths. The Vietnam Women’s Memorial, The Three Servicemen statue, and a flagpole etching also form part of the memorial.
