Q

What do plants need glucose for?

A

-Respiration -> makes energy
-Making cellulose
-Making proteins
-Storing in seeds as fat

Q

Why do plants store their glucose as starch?

A

-Glucose and simple sugars are soluble, meaning they can dissolve in water. They can be lost from cells in roots via diffusion from soil. Starch is not soluble.
