Q

What happens during the night for CAM plants?

A

At night the stomata is open, this is to allow CO2 to diffuse into leaves (O2 is released). Meaning they convert atmospheric CO2 into malte or another organic acid and store in vacuoles.

Q

What happens during the day for CAM plants?

A

The stomata is closed and the malate is converted into C02 in then enters the calin cycle and RuBisco can catalyse it.
Thus this minamises photorespiration and this process is very water efficient but very slow, The LDS is also occuring at the same time.

Q

What are some unique features to CAM plants?

A

They have adapted to high daytime temperatures, instense sunliught and enviroments with low soil. They minamise photorespiration adn seperate LDR AND LIR at different times of the day. Some examples are pinapple, aloe and cacti.
