Q

If measuring along a Victor Airway, measure from the center dot of the ___

A

VOR. Sometimes the center of a VOR is very near to an aerodrome surface, but they cant put a big VOR symbol over the aerodrom symbol on the map. In this case, they put a teeny tiny white dot on the aerodrom symbol.

Measure to/from this dot.

Q

What is dead reckoning?

A

A very old way of navigating before there were charts. It’s based on time, distance, and direction only.

You must know the distance from one point to another, the mag heading to be flown, and have some idea of the winds expected to be encountered during the flight
