Q

How long is a 2nd class medical valid?

A
12 months.
2nd class medical is valid for 12 months.
(for private pilots) once 2nd class med expires, it effectively becomes a 3rd class medical for as long as a 3rd class medical is valid. Thus a private pilot with a 2nd class medical holds a valid medical for 60 months (under 40) or for 24 months (over 40)
