What are otex sodium bicarbonate ear drops used for
To soften or help remove hardened ear wax in the ear canal
How do you use otex sodium bicarbonate ear drops
- Remove the cap and carefully discard
- Replace the lid with the dropper (which will replace the original lid)
- Tilt your head to one side and put 3-4 drops in the ear
- Keep your head tilted for a few minutes so that the drops stay in the ear
- Wipe away any surplus product
- Wash hands after and do not use cotton wool or ear plugs
What are the side effects of otex sodium bicarbonate ear drops
Slight discomfort and irritation that will only last a few minutes and will just pass on its own (it is very common)
How do you store otex sodium bicarbonate ear drops
- Keep out the sight of children
- Do not keep the bottle for longer than 4 weeks after it has been opened
- Don’t store above room temperature
- Don’t take after the expiry date
What is potassium citrate used for
Relives symptoms of cystitis and other minor urinary tract infections. Will only relieve the symptoms and the infection should pass by itself after a few days
How is potassium citrate used
- Take 2 5ml spoonfuls mixed with a glass of water
- Take it 3xs a day after a meal
- Take for 2-3 days and if this has not worked they should go back to the prescriber for some antibiotics
Side effects of potassium citrate
Could possibly upset the stomach and they may feel slightly sick but if so it shouldn’t last long
Storage of potassium citrate
- Store at room temperature
- Once opened use within 2 months
- Keep out of children’s reach
What is Mebeverine used for
Used to treat the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome
How do you use mebeverine
Some people find their symptoms to be strongest after they have eaten - try to take the capsule 20 mins before they have eaten - if this is the case
- Swallow the capsule whole with a drink of water
- Do not chew the capsules
- Recommended starting dose is one capsule twice a day
Possible side effects of mebeverine
If you get any of these serious side effects, stop staking the medication immediately and see a doctor at once. These include: difficult in breathing, swelling of the face, neck tongue or throat.
They’re other less serious side effects that should pass but if they bother you see a pharmacist. These include : skin rash, red itchy skin
How do you store mebeverine
- Do not use this medication after expiry date
- Store in the original packaging at room temperature
- Do not throw away any unused medicine but return or ask the pharmacy how to dispose of it proper
What is cosmoCol orange used for
Laxative used for for the treatment of long term constipation and faecal impaction
How do you use cosmoCol orange
Recommended dose for constipation - one sachet taken one to three times daily
Recommended dose for faecal impaction - 8 sachets daily consumed within 6 hours
how to mix -
Open the sachet and pour the contents into a glass and water to the glass. Stir well until the powder has dissolved and then drink it.
Can keep in the fridge for 24 hrs and it takes 24hrs to kick in
Side effects of cosmoCol
If you experience and of the following side effects, stop taking the medication and see a doctor immediately:
-signs of an allergy,such as a rash, itching, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
The following side effects are also possible:
-stomach pain
-Nausea
-bloating
-flatuence
-soreness
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist
How do you store cosmoCol
- Out of the sight and reach of children
- Do not use after expiry dated
- Store at room temperature
- Don’t use it if the packet is damaged or tampered with
What are pessaries used for
To treat bacterial vaginitis - caused by the imbalance of bacteria in the vagina so the medication will restore the acidity of the vagina
How do you use pessaries
- Use 1 pessary daily for 7 days before bedtime
- Wash hand thoroughly first
- Remove packaging
- Lie on your back, with your knees bent, allowing your legs to fall open
- Insert press art with your finger - pushing up, pointy side first , as far as you can
- Remain lying down after having inserted it
Side effects of a pessary
No significant side effects present with the medication
Advised not to use if patient trying to get pregnant as it may affect fertility
How do you store pessaries
- At room temperature
- Do not use any pessaries where the packaging has been damaged or the pressure is without packaging
- keep away from the reach of children
What are Haemorrhoid suppository used for
Treat the symptoms of haemorrhoids and piling -
Relieve any pain and discomfort which may be caused from piling
Soup the itching
How are haemorrhoid suppository used
-If possible empty bowels before use
-wash hands thoroughly before
-remove outer packaging
-gently insert one suppository deep into the rectum- to do this lay down and lift one leg before inserting
This can also be done by standing and using a chair if this is found my ore comfortable
-If lubrication is needed - warm suppository slightly using your hand before insertion
- This ,education should not be used for more than 7 days
Side effects of haemorrhoid suppository
No significant side effects however some may experience allergic like reactions such as soreness and Itchiness. This should pass relatively quickly but if it doesn’t proceed to see your doctor or pharmacist
