In all circumstances where an LV cannot be parked in a fundamentally stable position
What is required from both operators prior to overtaking?

All intersections must be treated as LIVE. Why is this important?
You must never anticipate a HMEs direction, HME can change course with little to no indication. Slow down and asses every intersection and treat it as if there is a HME moving through the intersection.
The engagement process when entering a HME 50m exclusion zone:
Engagement within the 50m exclusion zone may take place provided:
1. LV makes positive radio communication outside the 50m exclusion zone
2. HME operator stops all operations
3. Parks in a fundamentally stable position
4. Grounds GET
5. HME operator exits cab
6. Operator lowers their boarding ladder
7. LV takes authority over the area
8. LV can approach and park on the on side, outside the HMEs 10m exclusion zone, avoiding blind spots and out of the line of fire
After the engagement
1. HME operator must remain outside of the cab and watch the LV leave the area
2. Operator can enter the cab
3. Once the LV is outside the 50m exclusion zone and provides all clear positive radio communication operations may resume
What is a cool zone?
A cool zone is a dedicated vehicle that can be left running with the air condition on to provide a cool location for personnel working in the heat
A cool zone can only be used where a dedicated crib hut cannot be accessed
