  • Planning determines what the organisation will propose to accomplish and how those goals or objectives are to be accomplished.
  • Planning aims to improve the performance of individual working in groups.

  • Individuals in an organisation must know what they are expected to accomplish.

Activities that are involves include:

  • Determining what the organisation want to achieve within a certain time ,hence goals and objectives have to be developed to act as a guide.
  • Specifying the actions required to achieve these goals and objectives.
  • Decision- making managers have to choose alternatives course of future and action.
  • Innovation thinking ,as managers are dealing with the unknown.

-Planning that proves to be inaccurate is a waste of
managements time ⌚
-Planning does not makes future decisions.
-Planning can eliminate chance , management can not really prevent changes.
-Planning reduces flexibility .

THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING

A
  1. Planning gives the organisation directions.
  2. Planning promotes co-operation between various departments and people.
  3. Managers are compelled to look to the future.
  4. Planning is critical to the success of developing complex products.
  5. Top management is able to see the organisation as a total system within which objectives of the different functions are in ‘synch’ with each other and with the organistion’s overalls objectives.
  6. Planning encourages pro-active management, therefore management creates the future and does not allow itself to be passively pulled along by external environmental event.
  7. Management needs to anticipate changes in the environment.
  8. Implementation of Morden technology ⚙ is very expensive and therefore requires complex planning to ensure success.

9.Well-formulated goals 🥅 and planes are essential for South Africa’s culturally diverse workforces as misunderstanding of plan can result in defective performance
